About the Club, Information for non members
Members notice regarding resumption of shooting.
A number of members have contacted the committee after hearing that CPSA have agreed to support commercial grounds who wish to resume shooting. The queries have been of the nature of "could we as a club restart shoot meetings"? Members of the committee have carefully read the guidance from CPSA which can be viewed here (link to CPSA guidelines documents).
To summarise some of the CPSA guidelines:-
Shooting can only take place where grounds can ensure, as far as possible, that social distancing takes place at all times. This includes such measures as shooters remaining in vehicles until their squad is scheduled to shoot.
Telephone bookings taken for squad start times.
Squads being limited to a maximum of 2 per stand unless all squad members are from the same household.
The use of acoustic or foot operated trap releases is recommended.
Sufficient facilities must be provided to allow regular washing of hands or the provision of PPE and hand sanitiser.
All staff (or in our case members) working at the grounds must also exercise social distancing and be protected from infection as far as possible.
It should also be noted that at the current time gatherings of more than 2 people outdoors from outside the same household are forbidden and this is enforceable by the police.
The way our club runs would not allow any of the above to be complied with and so we do not believe we can recommence shooting at this time. Even were the rules regarding larger numbers of people to gather change there are still significant problems in providing shooting at our location whilst still maintaining social distancing.
The committee, consisting of Chairman, Secretary, Club Captain, Safety Officer and Treasurer, will discuss any changes to the above statement if and when the Government Rules regarding social gatherings
and distancing change.
